ERNIE BANKS LED THE WEST SIDE ROOTERS TALLYHO PARADE!

The West Side Rooters Social Club led a “Tallyho Party” (parade) on August 8th, 2008 (08.08.08) — exactly 100 years to the day after one of the original West Side Rooters Tallyho parties. The double decker trollies, from Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co., carried Ernie Banks, Dutchie Caray and approximately 120 additional Rooters from Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse to Harry Caray’s Tavern, located across from Wrigley Field. Riders cheered, sang and blew kazoos along Clark St. The Cubs beat their rivals — the St. Louis Cardinals in dramatic fashion that day.

The original Rooters often organized Tallyho Parties, which included Cubs fans playing instruments and cheering as they rode in carriages and bicycles to games.
